These comprehensive new services from GreenPipe assist resource exploration, production, and transmission companies meet the stringent new Species at Risk requirements set out by Alberta Sustainable Resource Development as part of their new Environmental Field Report requirements.

GreenPipe provides Species at Risk Reference Tables for specific development regions. These tables include basic habitat requirements, and provide project field personnel with the information necessary to help identify potential risks in an operating region.

If an area of potential conflict is identified, GreenPipe also offers a detailed, site-specific screening. This process results in an occurrence ranking plan for conflict management or mitigation.

Screening process:

  • Develop a Species at Risk information form. This outlines the basic information needed from the client to facilitate the screening, such as a survey or sketch, basic vegetation, important habitat presence (wetland, native parkland, native prairie, riparian areas, etc.), etc;
  • Review / verify the basic regional screening conducted by field personnel;
  • Initiate a more detailed screening based on available literature and data;
  • Liaise with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development to identify any concerns or issues with respect to Species at Risk and wildlife in the specified area;
  • Initiate an Alberta Natural Heritage Information Center search;
  • Maintain continual involvement with field personnel to keep them informed and to provide additional information as required; and
  • Rank the potential for Species at Risk.
